In the 21st century, a group of people are put in iron cages and paraded through the streets under the accusation that they are Alawites. One hundred iron cages were used to put five to seven people in each cage. Most of them were kidnapped survivors of the infamous Adra al-Omalia massacre against the Alawites, some were captured soldiers, some were kidnapped from their homes in Damascus, and some were from Makhachkala during the 2013 Latakia invasion. The prisoners were forced to make statements under the threat of weapons to be used as a pressure card against the Syrian army to stop the fighting between it and the armed terrorist groups.
